Heat transfer fluids Heat transfer oils

Heat transfer fluids or Heat transfer oils

The ability of MARLOTHERM ® heat transfer fluids or heat transfer oils for indirect cooling and heating over wide temperature ranges makes them suitable for a wide variety of applications. The use of these organic components is mainly linked to certain processes in the production of both chemical raw materials and high-quality finished products. Thermal fluids or thermal oils are used to heat and cool reactors of the most varied types. They also provide heat in distillation columns. Thermal heat transfer fluids or oils can also be used for cooling strongly exothermic processes, such as those that occur in the synthesis of ethylene oxide, aniline or formaldehyde. They can also be used in waste heat recovery circuits for greater energy efficiency.

Application areas

Chemical and Petrochemical Processes

Depending on the amount of heat being handled, it is often required to circulate up to 400 m3 of heat transfer fluid in the chemical proces.

Alkybenzene Aniline
Separation of aromatic compounds Caprolacma
Dimethyl terephthalate Ethylene oxide
Formaldehyde Isomerization processes
Herbicides, Insecticides Paraffin Sulfonate
Pharmaceutical active ingredients Phthalic anhydride
Additives for rubber and plastics Terephthalic acid
Coal exploitation

distillation tower chemical and petrochemical process
polymer mold

Polycondensation and Polymerization

Polycondensation follows a more moderate reaction sequence and, depending on the size of the plant, can be adequately carried out with amounts of heat transfer media as low as 10 to 40 m3. Extremely fine temperature adjustments are required to prevent discoloration and irreparable damage to the polycondensate product.
